Trial 1: The Cosmic Cipher
You've found an ancient alien data panel! It flickers to life, displaying a message in strange symbols. This must be the first clue to the Star of Twylo's location!
The message looks like this:
How to Decode It? Ask the Ship's Computer!
Luckily, the ship's computer is a powerful AI that can help translate alien languages. But it's not a mind-reader! You need to give it clear instructions, like telling a friend exactly what you need them to do. This is called giving a prompt.
Learning to Prompt (Talk to the Computer)
A good prompt usually includes:
- Your Goal: What do you want the computer to DO? (e.g., "Translate", "Decode", "Explain")
- The Context: What information does the computer NEED? (e.g., The message itself, any known clues or keys)
Example: Just saying "Help with symbols" isn't very clear!
A better prompt gives the computer everything it needs:
Your Turn to Instruct!
You found a small fragment nearby - a partial translation key!
- §Ψ = FIRST
- ∇⊕ = STEP
- ⊗∇ = IS
- ΔΔ = COURAGE
Now, look at the cipher message again:
Think: How would you ask the computer to decode this using the key? What's your Goal? What's the Context (the message and the key)?
(No need to type, just think about the best way to ask!)
Ready? Let's see if giving clear instructions worked...
Computer's Response:
Processing... Analyzing symbols... Applying partial key... Inferring missing patterns... Decoding complete:
"FIRST STEP FORWARD IS TRUE COURAGE"
Success! By thinking about how to give clear instructions (a good prompt!), you helped the computer decipher the message. This message itself is your key to passing this trial!
Remember this first step: Courage!
